Points along line - line length wrong

Screenshot 2023-01-17 173825.jpg I have a line feature with an attribute length of 511421.542756 US Survey Feet. I used calculate geometry to get this value.

When I use the "Create Points Along Line" function under editing it states the length of the line is 1.537.

Any idea why it is so far off?

@eotwmapping based on your screenshot of the Map Properties > Coordinate Systems page, it seems that some of your layers are using a Geographic Coordinate System (GCS). We have a known issue for the Create Points Along Line tool when the map uses a GSC that we intend to address in a future release of the software.

My recommendation is to get all the layers in the same Projected Coordinate System, as well as the map, and then do your editing. @DanPattersonI have 8 individuals polylines that I am wanting to be a single line and then divide into mile segments. I traced all 8 lines to make a single polyline and that is what is not allowing me to split or divide.

When I go back and try and select the 8 individuals lines all but 2 segments are able to be selected. One (the southern section) is part of a larger line and this is only one row of the attribute table. The other towards the center is a full section.

I am lost right now, so wanted to provide this context and see if that helped understand what my problem is. Screenshot attached of what I am seeing. Screenshot 2023-01-18 133602.jpg

I'm not sure what is going on, but as far as I can tell my layers and map are all the same coordinate system. I have changed them both to the same, changed to others to try, and can't get it to work. I don't have a good work around for this so don't quite know what I am going to do to resolve this issue.

right-click on each layer and select Properties, check the coordinate system there

Do the same for the map itself, since it may be in a different coordinate system

I checked this morning and believe I have everything in WGS 1984 (auxiliary sphere) projection, but the same issue is happening. I have attached a screenshot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Screenshot 2023-01-18 090347.jpg

one file is in a projected coordinate system and the other is in geographic.

Check the coordinate systems of the inputs and the tools you are using.
