I wanted to confirm some APR behavior with regards to Pipeline Relocations with different LRS configurations…
- When the LRS is configured as a Continuous network only, it appears there is no option to preserve the abandoned section of the pipeline route (from the reroute take-off point to the reroute tie-in point); the entire pre-edit route gets archived with an EffectiveToDate populated.
- When the LRS is configured as an Engineering network with derived Continuous, there is an option to preserve the abandoned section of the pipeline route (from the reroute take-off point to the reroute tie-in point) and move to it to a new ID/Name.
Is this behavior by design?
We often see pipeline operators who wish to use only a 1 Continuous Network but also have a requirement to keep Abandoned sections of pipe. It seems the APR behavior does not support this scenario?
