Sharing Markups via email

How would I consume a "markup" file in ArcGIS Pro [AGP] that was sent via email? I have a markup file but can't open or convert it to something useful. Can I not consume the "markup" file using AGP?

I'm hoping an analyst in the office can review the emailed markup file and resolve issues using AGP.

I'm still using AGP 2.9.0. Maybe this is an option in a newer version?

I've been looking at Markup files a lot the past few days. It seems for some reason the only way to use them in Pro is to put them in AGOL first and then look at them in Pro through the catalog portal tab.
