I've noticed that several apps created with the Sidebar template are producing an error that they are unable to load the map:
I'm seeing this issue in Chrome and Firefox.
The web map opens normally on it's own and if I create a new Sidebar app it works fine.
Is anyone else seeing the same thing?
Here's the URL of the app: https://leegis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/sidebar/index.html?appid=41d9dbcc8d504c4280dc236ee21c5e11
Here's the map: https://leegis.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=4294a46ccb814fcbbb3f7c2f8d5d4a32
Thanks,
Josh
Hi Josh,
Thanks for posting! We are actively investigating this issue related to the Sidebar app after last night's release and can anticipate this be fixed shortly. You can keep track of this defect by following BUG-000153630.

Oops I'm sorry can you try removing the app item description and snippet.
Thanks for reporting the issue. This is due to a bug in last nights release and we have a fix for this going out tonight. In the meantime there is a workaround for the issue if you can edit the web map. For the web map item you'll need to delete the snippet (and potentially the description too) from the web map item. You will be able to add these back in after the update goes in.
Thanks Kelly and Sarah!
I figured it was just a bug from the update. Unfortunately, that workaround didn't work this time. I've added a message to the splash screen and will wait for the fix to be pushed.
That's strange. Is your app or map public? If so can you share the link? I'd like to make sure we have a solution for the issue and deleting the web map snippet/desc should have resolved the issue.
Yes, both are public.
Here's the app item: https://leegis.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=41d9dbcc8d504c4280dc236ee21c5e11
I've got a few other apps that aren't shared publicly that are exhibiting the same behavior. I'm happy to try any other tweaks that may help.
Hi @KellyHutchins
Getting the same error here, so far, the work arounds have not corrected worked.

@RyanBohan It looks like the published version of the app still has a mapAllyDesc value defined but it has been removed in the draft version. Can you publish your app and let me know if that fixes it? Here is where I'm seeing the values. https://sandiego.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/75f6a5d68aee481f8ff48240bcaa1239/data?f=json
Thank you for your fast response. I was afraid to publish as I was still seeing the error on the preview screen in the instant app. I cleared my cache and cookies and when I reopened the configuration for instant app everything looked go. Published and appears to be working.
Thank you again for the fast response
It appears a configured Layer List in the Sidebar app, was also affected by the update. Previously I had 3 layers the user could turn and off. After applying the workarounds, I only had one. Not a big deal, except the map contains 70 layers and I had to recall which should be included in the options.
The Sidebar app has been updated so you should be able to add map descriptions and snippets back to your app item. Thank you everyone for working with us to workaround this issue until the fix was put in.
The Map descriptions appear to be causing issues again after the February 2023 update. Removing any text , and the browser cache appears to fix the issue. Re: Layer List Select Layers to include is no long... - Esri Community
