Downloading a Mobile Map Package into a Custom Android App

Hi,

 

I'm currently working on offline applications with Runtime for Android,

I'm trying to load the mobile map package in, while WPF I can manage it, I want to load the moblie map package from the download folder of a phone.

I've got a working application but at the moment I have to go manually into the file structure and place it one the phone, which isn't really dynamic.

 

Has anyone worked on this problem before, or an idea how to get it to search the phones download folder for the MMPKG?

To dynamically add the mobile map package from the downloads folder of a phone:

• You will have to set up explicit read permissions to access the directory. (https://developer.android.com/training/data-storage/manage-all-files)
• Set up an interface to open->navigate->select the file. 
• Get the path of the .mmpk file from the downloads folder.
• Create a Mobile map package (API reference) : MobileMapPackage​(String path)

 

Additionally, you could avoid all this, by hosting the .mmpk file as a portal item (example) and save it to the app's cache.
