Displaying popup only in Feature Info widget.

I am using Feature Info widget in my map, so there is no need for popup window on the map. However, if I disable popup in the web map, the content in Feature Info reverts back to default as the content is inherited from the popup I believe. Is there a way to retain my custom popup content to be displayed in Feature Info widget, but at the same time have the popup window on the map disabled?

Pop-ups must be enabled in Map Viewer for the Feature Info Widget to work. In Experience Builder you can disable pop-ups for a map by clicking on the map in the page tab, and scrolling to the bottom of the contents menu. This will allow data to be fed to the Feature Info Widget with pop-ups disabled.

Is there a way for this to work in web scenes? I've tried disabling the popups in Experience Builder and selection seems to be disabled even though popups are enabled in the web scene.

This is a good method if you only have one layer that needs a popup. In my map, I want to feature one layer's popup in the Feature Info widget (and not have that layer's popup appear on the map itself) but I also need other layers to have in-map popups. It seems like a severe limitation to not be able to do this. Do you know a workaround for it?

Today while I am experimenting in Experience, I found that this seems to be no longer a issue. Now that when you disable the popup for a layer, the layout in Feature Info is still respecting the popup you set for this layer.

Despite this being an old thread, I'm going to try posting my question to it for some guidance.

It seems like I am missing something here. I want the feature info widget to populate when I click on a parcel but I don't also want the popup window to open. How do I do that?

I’m using Enterprise/ExB 11.3. I’ve added a feature info widget. The only way I can get the Feature Info widget to populate like an ID window is to enable “Enable pop-up” on the map widget. Otherwise, it’ll only work using the select tool, which requires user to take some extra clicking steps.

Below, feature info widget only populates with "Enable pop-up" on map. As you can see, this is redundant:

But if I disable "Enable pop-up" on the map widget, feature info widget does not populate.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Kudos to ESRI tech support for walking me through to a solution. Using ArcGIS Pro 3.2.1, I needed to republish my web map. It had originally been published at ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 and I am now at 11.3 so republishing got everything up to 11.3 (Experience Builder and now web map). This allowed the feature info widget to populate as a popup window on map click with the actual popup window disabled on the map widget.

Hello, I am interested in the same functionality as @ZachBodenner mentioned earlier in this thread. That is to be able to have multiple layers with pop-ups but only one in the Feature Info Widget and have that pop-up only show up in the Feature Info Widget and not in the map as well. Is there a workaround for this somehow?

Did you find the workaround by chance? We are in the exact same boat. We only want one layer to be featured in the Feature Info widget. Currently, we have to have pop ups enabled and we're experiencing the redundancy of showing the pop up in the map and the feature info. To be frank, it's bad design.

I am setting up a Developer 1.18 app right now and don't see that anything has changed. At least I can't seem to find a way to configure everything the way I want. Like some of the others in here, I just want the ability to click a feature and have its configured popups display in Feature Info only. I don't want what you see on the left to show up at all, for any of my layers.

Then you want to go into your map widget, scroll down to Options, and then toggle off the Enable Pop-up option:

That doesn't kill the popup from the web map, meaning Feature Info will still work, but the ExB will not show the popup.

Here is something that got me closer to what I want. I at least get the Feature Info widget to open when I click the desired feature (with configured popup).

In the Map widget add a Trigger. Select Record selection changes. Under widgets, select Widget Controller (mine are in a widget controller). Then select 'Open widget'.

Now when I click my feature the Feature Info opens automatically and the configured popup is displayed.

The downside? The popup within the map still shows up. If I disable Map > Options > Enable pop-up then neither work.

Thanks, @ZachBodenner. Unfortunately, that prohibits the user from clicking a feature and seeing its information in Feature Info. The specific app I'm working on right now has only a handful of users so I'll just have to make sure they understand why they might see duplicate popups.

My hope is ESRI comes up with another way of getting this to work though as we have some apps that are heavily used by the public and I'm sure that will generate more confusion for them.

That's really strange, disabling the popup shouldn't disable selection/interaction. What you're describing is the exact setup I have in the ExB that I screenshotted (as well as others): popup enabled in Web Map, Feature Info widget set to show selected feature, Map widget with popup disabled.

I just tried that again and it didn't work (again). What's really odd too is when I disable the popup and try to click a feature, in this case an address point, the click somehow selects a polygon layer. I don't have a popup configured for it, nor do I want the user to do anything with that layer other than visualize it.

Just to be clear, you're able to disable the popup via Map widget > Options > Enable pop-up, add the Feature Info widget and configure it to load the AGOL popup on one or more layers, and click said feature(s) and see their popups displayed in Feature Info?

I am not using the Select widget in any way, are you?

Yes, that's correct, and I mostly do not use the select tool, though I have used both in the past.

@ZachBodenner Here is more information for you, and anybody else who sees this, about the problem I've encountered.

The issue involves adding an entire map service in Map Viewer, which then carries over to ExB. And, grouped layers within the map service can cause problems. I have a map service with 20 endpoints, including four separate layer groups. If I reference one of these layers in Feature Info the widget does not open when you click a feature in that layer. The irony is it always worked fine in Map Viewer Classic and Web AppBuilder using Robert_Scheitlin's Popup Panel widget.

If you add the individual REST endpoints in Map Viewer, and whether or not you group them, the Feature Info click loads the popup correctly in ExB.

I worked through this recently with ESRI Support and a BUG has been logged. What I completely forgot was I brought up this same issue with them in September, 2024, and a BUG was logged then too. See below.

Unfortunately it does not work for imagery layers such as the World Elevation GMTED or Sentinel-2 views. You have to rely on the map's popup window for these.
