Last week was the Esri GIS Tech 2019 where content was covered in the plenary session.Joris Bak shows how you can combine various resources in ArcGIS Online to analyze spatial patterns, such as the Sentinel-2 Views, AHN2 Hillshade, historical topographic data from 1969 and Risk Map - Hazardous Materials Accidents.
The content that remains most used are the base maps. In recent years we have been transitioning from raster to vector tiled base maps. Ellen van den Berg shows how you can style a base map using the Vector Tile Style Editor. This way you can easily create a Water Map based on the Light Gray Canvas to highlight the water. It is also possible to work with patterns, allowing you to create a map that looks painted on paper. This map will be available soon. Read more about creating your own styles and in the blog and how-to by Willem Jan Vierbergen.
Besides the base maps, we offer a variety of other content services. We invest a lot of energy in making relevant services available around the theme Climate. For example, for a year now we have offered the map layers from the Climate Effect Atlas, such as the recently added Soil Subsidence Signal Map. There are also new KNMI services available, including Wind Direction and Temperature.
Much of the data we offer relates to a physical location. For many issues, it is also relevant to gain insight into environmental characteristics and characteristics of the people living here. For this, we have started a new collaboration with data partner 4orange. 4orange has been collecting Dutch consumer data since 1991 and specializes in marketing efficiency and infrastructure. There are 1,001 variables available, including the Personicx lifestyle segmentation. The data from 4orange is offered in various ways, in the form of webmaps within the Living Atlas, Reports, Infographics and Data Enrichment. Read more about using this demographic data in the Release Notes.
