Could it be a projection issue where the points exist they just aren't in the extent you are looking at?
I do not think so. I tried with zoom to layer. Also, when the events layer gets created, the points are shown in the map, but there is no data in the attribute table. It is just the opposite to the shapefile issue.
If you can share some (not all) of the data, that is helpful for others.
Use Share instead of multiple posting.

Here is my .csv file and the same file in the excel format. The two columns "Latitude and Longitude" are of the X and Y coordinates.

The data are fine... save to a file geodatabase since the field names won't allow for any other format (ie shapefiles).
I just use the XY to Point tool in arctoolbox, saved it to a geodatabase and you are done
