Renaming WMS layers at the point of adding them

OK - I know we are cutting it close, but we are just about to retire our 10.8 server and move to 11.5, but I think this change was made in the 10.8>10.9 jump.

In 10,8 when you added a WMS you could rename the layers

In 10.9 and above you don't get that.

Is this behaviour as designed or am I missing something here?

so, the work around here, is to add each at the Portal level as single layers, give it the sensible name, then add these into the map one at a time and group them - it was much easier in 10.8!

As far as using a URL that isn't mine and adding it to Portal you cannot change the name of the individual layers until it's added to a map. (11.5)

thanks - but I don't get that option after I have added a WMS into a map (Portal 11.5)
