Better yet in the Enhanched Search Widget XML Configuration.pdf you will find that there is a fixedorfloat tag that needs to be set to fixed.

OK, I figured out that your changes where in the compiled_FV3.6 folder. Alright your issue is that you have fields all attribute set to true and you will not get any data to go to the datagrid if you don't have a gridfield="true" set on the fields that you want to appear in the datagrid. There is no option to just send all the fields to the datagrid, and that is intentional to prevent lazy configuration. You can look in the eSearchWidget.xml inside the uncompiled folder and see several examples of how to specify fields and the gridfield="true". Also it looks like you have the title field set to :

<titlefield>EV Wells</titlefield>

are you sure that this is a valid field name?

Another configuration issue I see in the config-eSearch.xml you provided is this:

<widgetcontainer layout="fixed">

you are missing the "ed" after fix. You can find approved layout types in the viewer documentation:

Thanks for sticking with me.

I have made some changes and am understanding a few things better. I am as of yet unable to produce the fixed grid down at the bottom that I see in the demo.

I reviewed everything you suggested and have made corrections. You are boon to the community and I am learning a lot thanks to your help. I sincerely appreciate the support.

I have included the main config, the esearch, and the fixed dg xml just to make sure you can see what I have tried.

At initial look, everything looks fine. Are you sure that the viewer is actually using the config-eSearch.xml and not the default config.xml? Do you see your operational layer when you launch the map?

How are you telling the viewer to use the non-standard config-eSearch.xml?
Did you copy the SearchWidgetFixedDG.swf over into the widgets/eSearch folder?

When I'm looking at these folders, which am I supposed to be modifying?

I was working in compiled, and I thought the config-eSearch.xml was just THE main config for the widget. I was zipping the parent up and then feeding that to my manage custom widgets interface on the app builder.

My apologies, to be honest, I do not know how I am specifying the config-eSearch.xml. I thought that was implied by using the widget.

I have moved the swf's but I figured I would just ask a couple of questions before I go further lest I need to undo a bunch of stuff. 🙂

The fact that you are using App Builder changes the whole scope of things. So based on what you have told me so far and now that I know you are using App builder, all you need to do is browse to the inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers\[The name you gave your app]\config.xml and add the

<widget left="0" right="0" bottom="0" url="widgets/eSearch/SearchWidgetFixedDG.swf" config="widgets/eSearch/SearchWidgetFixedDG.xml"/>

just like you did in the config-eSearch.xml.

Hi guys, is there a way to load just the left most 6 characters ? Something like this below where NAME is the field title

Wondering if anyone has successfully masked a value returned in the Search results. I am trying to mask hyperlinked URLs in the search results so users don't see the value, but rather a masked value (like hyperlink, instead of http://........

I couldn't find the answer to my question in the forum so I thought I'd post myself. My question is about the symbology of related features. I'm doing a table search and trying to locate the related polygon feature in the map. I can successfully search and using the show relates i can get the tabular information of the polygon layer and when I click the record in the table it zooms to the feature in tthe map no problem. The issue is that the color of the selected feature is just a feint orange outline instead of this:

I've tried putting these tags right below the fields inside of the the relate tag but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to customize the symbology of the related feature?

Thanks so much for getting back quickly. I've tried inserting that line in a couple different places; at the end in the symbols group, inside the relate tags and also, and it seems from the documentation that the most logical place is right after the relateicon tag like this:
<relatetooltip>Show Relates</relatetooltip>
<relateicon>widgets/eSearch/assets/images/i_relate.png</relateicon>
<subselection color="0x339933" linewidth="10" alpha="0.8" />

...but can't get it to change.

I'm on API 3.3, would I need to upgrade my tools?

Hi Robert,
I have an issue related to eSearch working with the Print widget. I put the issue summary in http://esrica-ncr.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5d4995ccdb99429185dfd8d8fb2a513e. Here is the details:

1. selecting polygons in the polygon operational layer from eSearch widget, the selected polygons are highlighted as red with transparency.
2. Then print the current map as PDF with the eSearch widget open. The selected polygons become solid red, and the boundary of the selected polygons is colored cyan with width at least 2.
3. If use the original ESRI Search widget to select, and then print the selected polygons with the Search widget open, then work fine: the selected polygons in the PDF file are red with transparency.

I made a sub package in ArcGIS Viewer for Flex, and attached here. It includes the simple polygon shapefile, config.xml and the eSearch widget only.

You can setup a new ArcGIS Viewer for Flex application, using the attached config.xml. It should have three buttons: Search widget, eSearch widget and Print widget.

the only operational layer in the config.xml is:
<url>http://localhost:6080/arcgis/rest/services/testPolygons/MapServer/0</url>

You have to change the following before running the demo:

1. publish the attached shapefile as a map service on localhost:6080, use the default name.
2. or you may want to publish the Export Web Map tool and use that service as the print service. That is what I did when testing.

The results are also attached.

This is a know issue with the print widgets when using FeatureLayers (like the eSearch uses). You can not compare the OTB search widgets printing with the eSearch as the OTB search widget does not use a Featurelayer for search selections it uses a graphicsLayer instead. Anyway this has been reported to the Flex Team for some time now and still no resolution.

Hi Robert, thanks for providing this great widget.

I have the widget configured and everything seems to be working except one feature that I see in your online sample. How do you enable the ability to select multiple rows in the fixed data grid? I'm using ArcGIS viewer 3.6 with your most recent widget. I have a feature layer with a one to many relationship to a non-spatial table and what I'm trying to do is search for records in the table and then select/zoom all of the related features.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, I have the relates section configured and working. Everything seems good except I don't have the ability to select multiple rows in the fixed datagrid below. I've tried it in IE and Chrome with no luck but I can do it on your sample application (by holding down shift). I couldn't find any flags that sound like they should turn that ability on.

Hmm... Can you verify for me that you do have the latest version of my widget by holding the Alt key down and clicking on the widget title.

Yes, I confirmed 3.6.1 with a build date of 12/19/2013. I've tried clearing my cache as well as different browsers with no luck. If I turn on the attribute window under layout I do have the ability to select multiple rows in that window.

I am using the app builder. As another test this morning, I added the widget to a test map without any sort of modification and I get the same results.

So using app builder does not allow you to add the fixed datagrid (as esri does not support UI widget in app builder) so did you manually edit the main config.xml and add the fixed datagrid?
