THanks Rob,

When I use the spatial buffer, it is providing me the wrong result.
Its seems that, when I do a 10 feet buffer, my results are everything on my current extent.
Any suggestions.

I will make that configurable in the next release but until then all you have to do is search for this line in the searchwidget.mxml and comment it out.

I noticed something which I hope is easy to fix because it is quite important to change. When doing a Spatial Search it only works for features that are actually inside the map extent....if a feature you are including in your search is outside of the visible map area then the tool returns no features. So, the tool only works for features inside the map extent.

This should be changed to work like the Text search which does not discriminate with inside or outside of the map extent.

Please help with this....somewhat urgent 🙂

i think you could do it with this tool, the spatial search can intersect a layer with itself.

A example with Louisville parcels :
You can specify a parcel number in the where zone of visible entities to buffer (with a correct xml configuration of course), the buffer size, it returns all parcels intersected with the buffer.
You can then export the results in a csv file.

Parcels Layer configuration for this example :

Is this the tool I'm looking for if I'd like to select a parcel, enter a buffer distance and return a list of intersecting parcels that can be used to generate mailing labels? I couldn't get this to happen in the application provided. If not, is this functionality available in an existing template application?

Hi Robert - I am trying to modify your widget slightly by passing in the url as a variable from another widget I've created. The reason I'm doing this is that the user will only ever be able to view one layer (out of more than 100). I don't want them to have to scroll through a long list and I also don't want to have to list all of the layers in the xml file. Since all the layers have similar fields, it should work to make the url a variable and specify the remainder of the parameters in the searchwidget.xml file. To do this, I've tried to create a global variable class which looks like this:

Robert,

I would like to bring your attention to a minor glitch in the eSearch widget. Please refer to the attached graphic. When the widget is launched first time by clicking on the widget button, the Graphical Search is selected by default. But the window shows components from Text Search.

I do not where in the mxml to fix this issue.

I don't work with joins all that often but as far as I remember yes you need the fully qualified field name in the xml configuration.

We are using v 2.1.5 of your search widget. We have 1 search configured that works properly. The results listing shows the "TITLEFIELD" and 1 other field that we have aliased. We are having problems getting the results listing to work for 3 other searches. These 3 other searches use a layer that contains a join. The search works in that it finds the proper results, but the results grid is empty. (see attached image) Do we have to include the fully-qualified name for the TITLEFIELD? Any assistance would be appreciated.

The spatial search use the map spatial reference instead of the wkid set in the SearchWidget.xml. I'll report this problem to Robert, he will decide wich is the best solution.

Robert,

You are running into a very common issue with any attempt to globalize measurements and get accurate results. The best thing to do is use a UTM 1983 zone that is specific to your area of concern and that will provide you the best results.

I also observed a similar difference in measurements. I changed the spatial refrence to 2153 for UTM 83 Zone 11, but it did not chage the measurement value. A 400 meters buffer distance around a point gives a measurement of 263 meters with eDraw widget tool.

It seems that the spatial reference is not being implemented at all, no matter what spatial reference Id you change to.

Other than that, it's a great widget.

Still no luck even with the linkprefix and suffix in the field element. All it returns when you click on or even displayed in the popup is the contents of the PAPA field which is the 17 digit Property Control Number. It just seems to ignore the linkprefix statement. As I stated earlier, it works perfectly in your Identify widget. Here is the code again in case I am missing something, which is a good possibility:

The search widget uses the querytask which is layer specific. You could create a hybrid that uses findtask instead for the graphical search but I don"t have any plans for this.

2.1.4_ worked perfect for me for the domain values in the datagrid.

Is there a way to use all layers in the graphical search, like you can do in ArcMap so that your user wouldn't have to specify layers to search for? I grouped the layers and used the group layer identifyer as the url, but got errors when I would try to use a search box on the map. Any ideas?

It is happening with both the floating grid and the widget results.

If this might help, the Identify Widget works ok with the prefix and suffix.

Since only 4 people downloaded version 2.1.4 before you informed me of the issue with the grid I did not feel like sequencing the version number again so even know it still says 2.1.4 it has the coded values in the grid fixed. Just make sure when you download you have a file named eSearch2.1.4_.zip notice the underscore before the dot zip.
