I would suggest clicking on the link and walking through the setup process. I have not done this with a non-Google site but I presume it can be accomplished. You will need a Google login (like Gmail). I am guessing you would just sign up for the Analytics account and then list your story map URL as your website. Then maybe you could have people on the GeoNet test it to see if you are getting hits from around the world.
If this is successful, share it on GeoNet so that others can see what you did!
