Thanks for these updates. I really loved the Group layer feature. I see it’s only available for Map Viewer.Any plans on making the update available for Classic Map Viewer as well? I love the Map Viewer, but for us the Classic viewer works way smoother and doesn’t have the struggle of loading items as zoom in and out for example or try to open the PopUp menu.
Map Viewer, not Map Viewer Classic, is the way ahead. Group layers will not be added to Map Viewer Classic and it will no longer be evolved.
One of the many reasons is that underneath the hood, Map Viewer is built upon our latest JS API 4.x foundation, as are the Instant Apps, Experience Builder, and ArcGIS Dashboards. This common foundation allows for the support of new features, such as effects, blending, rotation, and yes - group layers and more, to be supported across the ArcGIS system.
Map Viewer Classic will continue to be available and supported. In future updates, the remaining features that Classic supports (such as analysis, Save Layer, and drag-and-drop of CSV files) will be added to Map Viewer. You are encouraged to migrate to the new Map Viewer to take advantage of the new capabilities, but can use Map Viewer Classic whenever needed.

There has been an existing issue with the way new fields can be added to a feature layer in AGOL.
When using the 'Data' tab to add a field to a feature layer, the new field isn't visible in either the new or classic map viewer.
The solution I was given by support was to open the Classic Map Viewer and then select show table for the feature layer which you want to add a field , and select and use the 'Add Field" option. Adding the new field this way works.
Has an "Add Field" option been addressed with the new Map Viewer? This needs to be present or the issues with adding a field via the 'Data' tab need to be corrected.
