How to see only selected features in Arcmap????

Question

I have a list of 20,000 features totally divided into 4 zones having 5,000 features each. I want to prepare thematic maps for all the 4 zones in layout view i.e. by selecting the features in a particular ward(individually).

Is there a way by which we could only see the features which we have selected in the "Layout view" and hide the unselected features in Arcmap(for layout view) so as to prepare thematic map only for the selected features??????

Your reply was really helpful and using "Page Defination" query, it led me view only the shapefiles which I had selected in the query itself. Thanks a lot sir for your concern.

Have you tried either creating a layer from the selected features or applying a definition query to the layer to display a subset of features?
