view file geodatabase in sql?

Is it possible to view a file geodatabase in sql management studio?

I have a simple file geodatabase that I would like to analyse with a few sql queries. I've read the help doc

ArcGIS Help 10.1

but I don't understand where they are suggesting to write the SQL queries or how to connect sql management studio to a file geodatabase. are these examples just meant to be used in the layers definition query within arcmap.

I feel like I'm missing something very simple here and just need a little push.

No, you cannot connect to a File gdb from SQL Server Management Studio.

Those queries mentioned in those links are for use in ArcGIS interface.
