Hover Feature Layer Improvement ??

I am trying to improve the dialog to clear faster in the Feature Layer - display results as an InfoWindow onHover . See attached Image. Some counties stay highlighted even though the cursor clearly has moved past the county. I have looked into the QueryTask with geometry, results as an InfoWindow onHover

but I have more than one layer with check-boxes and print functionality and I just don't see query task being a practical way even though it does seem to work much smoother.

Thanks for any suggestions.
