Question about Labels

I am currently using/evaluating the trial ArcGIS Online subscription account for organizations to see if it will work for our needs. I have been able to produce maps with point features using ArcMap 10.1 and created the feature service and web map applications to view the maps on the web. However, I have not been able to produce a map that is viewable on the web which includes the labeling properties that I set up in my map. The symbology transfers just fine, but there is no labeling of the features.

Can the labeling properties be transfered to a web map? If so, what is the process? So far, I like the ArcGIS Online for Organizations just fine, but the ability to label features in a web map can be a critical component. If that is not possible, it may be difficult to decide if the subscription price is worth it for the features it delivers. I appreciate any thoughts or comments in this regard.

You might need to reduces the levels of zooming in your cache. The more you have the more credits it will consume, you might be running out of credits.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I went back and uploaded the map to ArcGIS Online as a tiled service and it completed the upload, but gave me this message:

"The cache for the service has been enabled but the cache generation failed."

I tried it a few times and always got this message. The map I was working with is not large in size (it contains about 850 point features) but it has a pretty large extent in that the points are spread across most of the United States.

So, that leads me to a couple of questions. How do I fix the cache generation error and if I am successful in that regard, is there any way to know or estimate how many credits will be consumed by creating such a map? Also, would the credits be consumed only when the map/cache is originally generated or everytime the map is used/viewed on the web? Thanks again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is another option to create tile services in which case it doesn't consume your credits. In ArcMap go to Customize >> ArcMap Options >> Sharing and click the checkbox next to "Enable ArcGIS Runtime Tools" then click Ok.

After that if you go to File >> Share as, there will be a new option, called Tile package. Using this you are able to create tiles, package them and upload to your account. This way the tile generation is made by the Desktop application, not by ArcGIS Online.

If you click on this uploaded tile package in My Contents the Create service button becomes active so you can create a tile service from it.
However the storage of this tile service and package will consume credits, but way less then the tile generation.

If you upload it as a tiled service you will be able to upload it with labels. This will consume credits though.
