Identify or Popup Content for .lyr in ArcGIS Explorer

Question

If a user can't see the attribute information behind a .lyr file, then we can't use ArcExplorer for our business needs.

Here's what I'm looking for: - Load a .lyr file so that I don't have to change all the symbology (which would take forever in ArcExplorer)

-- AND --

- Include a Popup Content for .lyr file so users can have access to the attribute information behind the data

At least in ArcReader users have access to both of these valuable application tools...well, sort of. You kept your desired symbology PLUS you can identify on features. Unfortunately, users can't see the attribute info of a .lyr file in ArcExplorer. I can add shapefile or GDB FC or ArcGIS Server connection, but then I lose my unique symbology that would be just about impossible to replicate within ArcExplorer.

Is there a workaround that I'm just not seeing?

Did you find a solution to this problem. I am also trying to display a raster in ArcGIS Explorer and would like the convenience of keeping my classification legend and at the same time be able to query the grid values.

Hi Matt,

you can add and identify .lyr files in ArcGIS Explorer. Just make sure that "Layer Properties->HTML Popup tab -> Show content for this layer using the HTML Popup tool" is checked in ArcMap before you publish .lyr or .lpk (layer package) files.

I'm trying to do this for raster files I've saved as layer files to keep my classification legend. For these files, the HTML popup tab does not exist, so I can't define that before saving as layer file. Is there a way to get around this? I don't want to load the rasters as raster files in arcgis explorer, because I can't keep my desired legend that way. I want to laod them as layer files, and users to be able to have access to the grid cells values. Thanks.

I have a problem with arcgis online.
the problem is that, layer html popup is not showing in arcgis exploler however i checked html popup and adjusted visible fields. i only have it if the layer is point layer.
i dont have such problem when layer is polygon?
Can you explain what is wrong?
