A new version of the enhanced Search Widget is available. This is a simple bug fix version and does not have any major enhancements, but if you are using linkprefix in a datagrid field than this version is essential to you.

In the next release look for some major re-working of the spatial search and buffer portion to make this widget more user friendly. Erwan has been working hard on this, and I like were we are going with this change.

Thank you for the bug fix! I will implement that tomorrow. I have one additional question for you and Erwan. In the spatial search section, I am trying to set it up so that I can select a subset of parcels (like all City of Montrose owned parcels) and then select a particular type of zoning, like B-1 or something. The results I was hoping to see were all of the City of Montrose parcels that fall in a B-1 zoning district. However, those are not the results I am seeing. I am getting all of the parcels that fall in a B-1 zoning district. Is this expected? If not, I must have something setup incorrectly. I have included a snippet of the xml file for your reference. For now just change the file extention from dot csv to dot txt (as a csv file really is just a text file with a different extension) once you save the file. I will add this to my enhancement requests.

I have attached a screenshot showing the filters I am trying. When I perform the search, I get lots of parcels, not just City of Montrose parcels. Thank you for having a look.

Robert,

The eSearch widget is great. However, I still see a problem with buffering. Please see the attached screenshot directly from running the widget from ESRI code Gallery. I tried to select Louisville parcels within 1 kilometer from Police Facility �??2ND DIVISION�?�. It missed to select parcels near the immediate vicinity of the selected police facility. It appears to be a strange behavior.

I would also like to add the following item to be included in next enhancement.

Currently, search by Text is limited to one field. To expand that functionality, I wonder if a list of fields can be defined in the SearchWidget.xml that can be shown as a list in a combobox. Once a field is selected, user can enter a valid value to search.

I think you are missing an obvious limit of the rest map service that you are querying. You are seeing the 500 feature limit and those parcel just happen to be the first 500 to be returned. I will add you enhancement request to the list.

Awesome widget, I finally got it working. I have one questions. Is it possible to modify it to do a like instead of equal search? I would like to be able to enter a partial address and have it find any matches. An example would be I put in 123 Main and the results would show 123 Main St N and 123 Main St S or enter Main st and it would return all address on Main St.

I have another question. I am trying to use the hyperlink field and its sorta working. I get an arrow in the search box and the link shows up in the popup, but when I click on either the arrow or the link, the new window pops up and combines the address of my app as well as the hyperlink. This is what i get

Having some trouble with the Enhanced Search Widget 2.1.7.

I was using the old 2.1.6 and when i upgraded to the 2.1.7 i deleted the Esearch folder under widgets. I then cleaned my project and then copied over the new Esearch widget and followed all of the rest of the instructions.

My problem is the hyperlink works in the grid for a few times, and then suddenly it stops working because the LINKPREFIX gets put in front of the url I have already built by the LINKPREFIX. Example of what it is doing.

I see in the documentation that the "linkprefix in datagrid not getting cleared when new search results are issued" was fixed in 2.1.7. I've cleaned my project, REST services and even tried to build the project and run it on another server, but I still get this problem.

In attempt to try to fix this i have redownloaded the 2.1.7 widget and copied over all of the files in the Esearch widget and slowly edited the xml to fit my data but it eventually appears again.

Thanks for letting me know about this I was able to reproduce your error. I neglected to test by opening and close the datagrid multiple times with the same search results.

Because my code is in flux right now due to working on the next release version 2.2 I can not put out the code with the fix for this right now but I can show you where to put it in the source code.

In the SearchWidgetFloatDG.mxml find the set dProvider function and replace it's first line with this:

_data = ObjectUtil.copy(value);

The more I add to or enhance this widget the tougher it gets to manage.

Im not sure if it is related or not, but in the datagrid, the hyperlink field has NA added to the front and back of the link. I also tried another layer and the viewers URL is still being added.

I did some further testing and it appears to be something with my map services. I added your widgets to the default ESRI 2.1 viewer and everything works just fine. I add my one business layer, and I am able to search, but the hyperlink still adds the working folder to the URL, but the other hyperlinks work just fine. I really have no idea where to being looking to fix this.

Nope you will have to wait for the 2.2 version. As esri updates their viewer they sometimes make significant or minor changes to the core widget code that will require each version to have their widgets re-compiled.

The Identify widget is going to be released in version 2.2 very soon.

Ok. Thanks for all the hard work and doing this for everyone. I do a fair amount of coding in VBA and some minor batch scripting, but this whole flex thing completley different from anything Ive done in the past. Using all this shared code makes my life sooooo much easier.

Having a problem with the code. When I try to open the search widget I get 2 errors. The first one is an unable to compile error on the searchwidget.mxml. I just deleted the special character after the word copyright at the beginning of the code and that fixed the error.

The 2nd one is on exportbuttonskin.mxml. The error is unable to resolve assets/images/i_save.png. I tried replacing the file in the assets folder and its still there. the only places it is referenced is on line 192.

Did the latest zip not contain the i_save.png?.. Strange... I uploaded again making sure the special character is gone and the i_save.png is definitely in there.
