Adding table in the Portal Site and pulling data from json or xml web service

Hi, I am trying to create a table in the Portal Sites and pull the data from json or xml services. While I can create a table (static table), I cannot figure out how to reference a json or xml webservice and pull the data from there so that my table values are updated dynamically?
