Identify Widget for FlexViewer 2.1

All,

I have been waiting for the Final release of the FlexViewer 2.1 before I started to push out some widgets I have been working on.

Here is my Identify Widget for Flex Viewer 2.1. I have tested to ensure proper functioning with FlexViewer 2.1 and am now releasing it to you since the API Team did not get one into the FlexViewer.

Is there a way to exclude specific services or layers from being returned by this tool using only the widget config xml file? I would like to only id on features I have specified as operational layers in the viewer and not the base layers.

I was trying to duplicate the results you had on the excluding all layers not in the IdentifyWidget.xml by commenting out the else block in the function called processIdentifyResults. I then recomplied it but i still get the layers to show up that are not in the IdentifyWidget.xml.

Here is the function with the code i commented out. I've try to clean the project, and build but i still get the layers to show up i didn't want to see.

It's probably something simple that i'm not seeing. Any Ideas? Also, i'm using Flash builder 4 to rebuild the mxml.

I think you are commenting out the same place I am, so I don't really have an explanation. One other thing I am doing, though, is forcing no Identify results from tiled layers by hard coding the url variable to "" in the else if (layer is ArgGISTiledMapServiceLayer) conditional in the identifyFeatures function. That may be unrelated, though.

I found the issue you were experiencing and fixed it in the 2.1.4 release. If you want to or need to switch your operational layers back to the way you had them then the new version will work with them that way.

A new Version that supports only identifying the layers that are specified in the IdentifyWidget.xml is now available.

Encountering some odd behaviour..

Just installed version 2.1.4 and set <keepidentifyactive>true</keepidentifyactive>.

When i minimize or close the widget I still have the 'Click to Add Point' label attached to my cursor...then I can click to get rid of it but whenever the cursor touches another widget or the header area the label comes back...

Did not have this issue in 2.1.3

All,

Yet another version 2.1.5 fixes the issue that several people including myself have with the draw tool tips showing when using this widget. Also Phillip identified a issue with the widget even when closed still showing the draw tool tips. These have been fixed in this latest version.

There is a new version again (2.1.6). That fixes the issue with not being able to click on the hyperlink in the info popup. For your second point that is just the standard that ESRI started and for me to change from that now would break other enhancements that user have asked for. The Third comment of your is just the way that it is. The identify results are returned using the field alias and not the true field name from the identify task so that is all I have to work with.

Does the Identify widget support secured map services? I get Identify results for all layers except those requiring a token.

I actually noticed a problem which I posted in another thread while using this tool. Has anyone had an issue with the framework jumping around after going to full extent then using this identify tool. It is an issue with the framework because I have the same issue with the draw point in the draw tool.

The identify widget does not support secured services that I know of. I don't use any secured services so it hard for me to develop for them.

Robert - I'm trying to incorporate the identify the widget into a viewer that also has the GeoPortal Search widget. The geoportal widget allows us to add WMS layers to the map. When I try to do an idnetify on one of the WMS layers that has been added, I get an error "Error:[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032:Stream Error. URL: http://[wmsserverurl]/identify"]

My guess is that wms layers are not supported by the identify widget. Any suggestions?

After I added the your widget and then added the flex module to my project, when I go to run the build it comes back with this error....

"Encountered errors or warnings while building project IdentifyWidget.mxml.
IdentifyWidget.mxml: Access of possible undefined property selectedTitlebarButtonIndex through a reference with static type com.esri.viewer:WidgetTemplate."

Soooo what did I do wrong? 🙂

Thanks for this great widget. I have one issue though. When I open my flex sample viewer with the new Identity Widget I get the busy cursor clock. I am able to identify my features and get them to display in the window, but the clock does not disappear. Any ideas?

you are the first to mention this, so try removing the identify widget from your config.xml and see if you still have the issue. If the busy cursor does disappear once the identify widget is removed from your config then please post your config.xml for me to look at.

I removed the identity widget from my config.xml and the cursor is still there and now it the winodw says the operation is not supported by this service. Do you still want me to post anything?

I cleared the cache twice and it is still there. Maybe I am not sure what you mean by identity button. Are you talking about the blue i in the identity window?

Yep, I am referring to the blue identify button that was added to your application when you added my widget to your app. Once you remove the identify widget element from your config.xml you should no longer see the blue i button in your app. Are you using the compiled or uncompiled version?

Oops, after clearing it a couple of more times it did disappear. Sorry about that, I am not sure why it took so many tries. So, now the identity button and window are gone from my viewer. Should I attach my identitywidget.xml?

I don't see anything wrong. Of course the config.xml you send was the one you deleted the identify widget from so I can't see if you had any issues there. Try adding it back using this code

I think I figured out the problem. I had preload="open" added to my config.xml, because I wanted the window to be visible upon opening. When I deleted that from the code, the cursor disappeared. Sorry, I should I have caught that earlier, I did not know it was going to cause problems. Everything seems to be working now, thanks so much for putting up with me!
