Are there any workarounds to have widgets show "No Data" in Operations Dashboard?

Hello:

I am looking for a workaround to show "No Data" on widgets in Operations Dashboard. I do realize that there has been an idea that has been submitted for allowing "No Data" to appear on Widgets in Operations Dashboard. However, I was curious if anyone has figured out a workaround to have "No Data" to appear on a widget before a user makes a selection with the category selector tool. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information that might help.
