AGOL: Is there a difference between a featur-layer and and a feature service? Would the correct wording be "hosted feature layer service" when publishing a service from ArcMap to ArcGIS Online?

Hi

A feature service may contain many layers; picture a geodatabase with feature classes and tables and relationship classes, the set may be published as a single feature service with layers 0,1,2 etc.
