Identify Widget Question

This question pertians to Robert Scheitlins' Identify Widget 2.3.1.
I have added the widget to my web app and it's exactly what I'm looking for. HOWEVER, it only seems to identify those layers that are a part of my basemap. I've modified the "onlythese" code in the compiled version six ways from Sunday and it will not id any of the layers in my 'operational layers'.

Any ideas anyone? Robert?

The 3.3.2 Identify widget has "Added circle and ellipse tools" - I updated the widget and do not see these tools. I also checked the xml config and do not see a reference to these tools there.

What am I missing?

First you will want to update to 3.3.2.

You have a couple of issues with your configuration.

Is this layer specified in your map and did you provide the token attribute for the layer in your Main config.xml?
if you did and you are using 3.3.2 then your url tag should just be this:

Your exclude layers are a little out of wack too.

yes, if you add the services to flex using localhost, the viewer will only work from the "localhost" computer.

Try adding with the FQDN and it should work.

I believe that is exactly what is happening here. I am very new to this process though and do not know where to change that. Is that because I added those services to Flex using the local host instead of the full domain?

Most likely a path issue. Maybe the services, etc. are being loaded as http://localhost/flexviewers instead of http://gis01.sub.com/flexviewers? (fully qualified domain name)

Often, if you have fiddler running and capture the http requests, it will give you an idea of why it is failing.

I got it working (though it only works in IE and not Chrome).

Now to my next issue if anybody can help...
The Identify widget works wonderfully on my host machine, but when I open the Flex application on my local machine the Identify Widget returns the following error sequence:

http response status: 404

Fault code: Server.Error.Request

Fault info: HTTP request error

Fault details: Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032"]. URL: http://gis01/flexviewers/Test/widgets/Identify/IdentifyWidget_2.xml

Any ideas?

You just need to create a virtual directory on your server that "points to" the network folder, then aim you link at that.

This way, you get a http:// link as the browser expects.

I need help configuring a link to a network folder rather than a website link. The link function of the identify tool appears to add "http:" syntax to my link prefix and changes all back slashes to forward slashes.

* 3.0.2 - Fixed the Gray Circle Of Death (GCOD) people were seeing because of the glowfilter
              being applied to graphics not completely in the map extent.
           - Fixed the identifying features message to more accurately report the identify progress.

Hi Robert,
thanks very much for replying. I tried making that change in the activateIdentifyTool function but I'm still not seeing the mouseover event being fired if keepIdentifyActive is true. We're on version 3.0 of your widget so I guess I'll just upgrade to 3.01. I was hoping I might be able to get this working without the upgrade.

You are experiencing these error because of multuple syntax errors you are entering into the XML:

This is what you have for the date field:

<field name="ESRIdate" alias="Date"/>popuponly="true" dateformat="YYYY/MM/DD" useutc="true"/>

What I have indicated in red is telling the parser to ignore everything behind it (basically).

It should look like this:

<field name="ESRIdate" alias="Date" popuponly="true" dateformat="YYYY/MM/DD" useutc="true"/>

Next is if you are going to use all equals true than use this one line:

<fields all="true" />

Instead of:

<fields all="true">
<!--
                <field name="Address" alias="Address" />
                <field name="City" alias="City" popuponly="true"/>
                <field name="State" alias="State" popuponly="true"/>
                <field name="Postcode" alias="Postcode"/>

If you use all equal true than you do not have the option to format ANY of the fields.

Hi Rober, thanks for your prompt reply. This problem has been fixed simply by deleting the widget folder and starting again from scratch. You're right, probably was a syntax error elsewhere. I note, however, that using <fields all="true"> appears not to display all fields. I appreciate your above comment that it is better to display only relevant fields, although it would be good to know why the tag doesn't seem to work, only displaying the layer name but no field values.

DATES

I have another question about the documentation. You say to consult the ESRI date format documentation, which I found here. It appears to say that a date should be in "yyyy-mm-dd". The date in my map service, however is YYYYMMDD. I created a new date field, threw the YYYYMMDD data in there but it uses / instead of -. As you can see in the syntax for the second layer in the identify tool, I tried to get it to display the dates in YYYY/MM/DD format, since in the map service they are in DD/MM/YYYY.

What is the problem with the date?

EDIT: also, I forgot to mention that the date should only show in the pop up, but in fact it shows in the list of results as well, not only the pop up.

* 3.0.1 - Added a drop down to choose which configured layer to identify or just all layers
    - Added a remove button to each result, so that you can remove unwanted results from the list
    - Added tag excludelayer to the IdentifyWidget.xml that allows you to specify a layer that you do not
      want to see results for.
    - Fixed widget resizing issue after a popup has been displayed
    - Added tag disablepopuplinks to the IdentifyWidget.xml that allows you to turn off url links for popups only.
    - If no results are found the widget will automatically transition back to the identify tools view
    - All identify tools buttons toggle now.
    - Mouse over graphics now works even if you have the widget set to keepidentifyactive.

What do your additional compiler arguments look like for your project when you look at your projects properties > Flex Compiler?

Hi Robert,

I am having the exact same problem that Serena reported when taking your compiled 3.0 code (Identify, Toc, Route) and inserting them directly in a FlexViewer 3.0 compiled code. I do NOT have this problem doing the exact same process using your 2.5 compiled code and inserting directly into a FlexViewer 2.5 compiled code.

I also do not have this problem when using the source code and compiling myself. However, I need to be able to push these, as well as a custom widget, to the FlexViewer compiled 3.0 code. It seems that ESRI is pointing the locale swfs to assets/locale/{locale}. I have tried to compile using the source code to point to this location and then pushing out to a compiled version with no luck:

-locale en_US -source-path=assets/locale/{locale} -keep-all-type-selectors=true

Have you encountered this? Am I missing any additional arguments, compiler or otherwise, that you are aware of?
