FeatureTable filtering

There is a filter event on the FeatureTable in the 3.16 release but nothing to indicate how to actually filter?... Does anyone know how to filter the FeatureTable?

I was able to make the filter event fire when using the options to "show selected records". I don't see any other method to filter the featuretable.
