Basemap Gallery Widget at 4.4 - Can not read property 'destroy' of null

Question

I'm seeing an error when switching between basemaps using the gallery widget at 4.4.

ArcGIS JS v4, Calcite Maps and Bootstrap Example

MapView.js:711 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'destroy' of null

The error no longer occurs for me. This might have been a temporary glitch during the 4.3 to 4.4 switch that took place yesterday.
