Extend Portal Content Allowed Item List

Need to extent the content allowed by Portal, using 10.6.1 LINUX. I have a customer requirement to upload content in a message format that is similar to text files. Based on the items listed: What can you add to your portal?—Portal for ArcGIS | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise is this not possible? Current workaround is using zip file.
