Roles in ArcGIS Online

I added a viewer only role today and it appears to correctly have view only/no edit privileges on the browser version of ArcGIS Online, but on the IOS app, the user can still edit the feature service.

Is the role update not effective on the mobile apps? Has anyone else seen this?

The apps like Collector and ArcGIS for iOS/Android currently do not have full support for the custom roles. You can disable editing on the layers in the web map to work around this issue.
