MapImage minimum time to update href

I have images on a map that need updated frequently, is there a minimum benchmark time I can expect to have to wait to see the image update on the map.  Looks like the image is only able to update about every second or so based on testing so far.

Faster than a second if possible.  Is the default time about a second to update the map?
