buffer polygon based on spatial join

Question

I'm a newby with ArcGIS Pro.

I have a layer of businesses (point data) that I need to relate to a property parcel (polygon). I need to create a buffer based on the property parcel (polygon) that contains the business. Buffering the points was easy, but I can't figure out how to buffer the related polygon. I'm guessing that the spatial join I did was incorrect.

Any assistance is deeply appreciated.

Hello Dan,

Thanks for the response.

I have run a  spatial join between the points and the polygons, but there is nothing in the resultant join that identifies the polygon as a polygon, it identifies as a point. If that makes any sense 🙂

How can I join a point to a polygon and still keep the polygon to buffer?

maybe spatially join the points to the polygons first, then buffer the polygons
