Match slope raster values to rivers vector network

Hello all,

I have a problem with using Arc Info / Advanced and trying to match a vector network of rivers to a raster of slope data.

Is there a specific tool for this task, or is scripting needed? What is the appropriate method for this tast?

I have attached an image of my data.

The river vector network is broken up into individual streams, as shown in picture, each with a unique id.

What do you want as output, the average slope for each unique entire stream?

Yes, that's what I would like as output. Or a best match or nearest neighbour type result.

Would you think this is possible to achieve?
