arc reader on windows 8 tablet

i was wondering if anyone is either running arcreader on a windows 8 tablet, or knows that it will work one?

We're considering the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. But wondering if it's rugged enough and if the screen isn't full of glare for our field workers. Anyone have any thoughts?

I was looking at the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 as well but ultimately went with the Dell Venue 8 Pro because of the lower price point. Obviously the hardware isn't as sophisticated but it seems to run ArcReader just fine. I purchased the tablet and a rugged case for about $350. I haven't had a sunny day yet to test it outside but the case is fairly rugged so I'm not too worried about damage.

My biggest problem so far is being able to identify points. I can identify lines and polygon features quite well but it's hit or miss when ttrying to click on a point. I know you can change the sensitivity on ArcGIS for Desktop but is there anything you can do with ArcReader? I've tried making the points bigger but it hasn't really made a difference. Also, is there a way to set features so you can't identify them? I have some base data that I want on the GIS for visual purposes but have no reason to identify them and find myself clicking them on accident.

Is your ArcReader project basically a view only application?  If so (and if you have ArcGIS Server), might you consider creating a FlexViewer application to replace ArcReader.  There are many configurable FlexViewer widgets that don't require any programming that would make this a fairly simple and straight forward process.  This would remove the dependency of having to install ArcReader software on client machines (Not sure how big of a deal this is to you).

You might also consider AGOL, but it currently has some labeling deficiencies that might make it more difficult to duplicate your current ArcReader project.

ArcReader works just fine on Full Windows 8

However, I have heard there may be issues when running on RT versions.  You may want to consider a full windows tablet. hello everyone,
