Field Maps Version 26.22 unable to add photos (not even an option) to ArcOnline feature layer

We have a feature layer that some people/phones are not able to add photos to anymore. Anyone running Field Maps Version 26.12 and 25.1 are still operating fully. There are photos attached to points. Those running Field Maps version 26.22 do not even see the option to add a photo when adding a new point or editing a point. The attachment settings all appear to be set properly.

Based on some posts here, I added the feature layer into ArcGIS Pro to try the Upgrade Attachments tool. However, it says," Error 000187 Only supports Geodatabase tables and feature classes". So I can't run the tool.

Really need to get everyone able to take photos. Any thoguhts?

Just to confirm, the layers in your map have been configured with forms through Field Maps Design/Map Viewer. Is that correct?

If so, have you included any of the attachment elements into your form? i.e. General for example

Just to confirm, you're working with ArcGIS Online?

In the context of Field Maps, wrt to the Upgrade Attachments geoprocessing tool in Pro, in general that tool should not be necessary when working with attachment-enabled data that will ultimately get published or has been published already as a hosted feature service in either ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise as all the necessary configuration should have been applied.

Confirmed. Just as of this morning, I have a user who is seeing this as well on Version 26.2.2. The user is running an Android device if that matters.

We are also having the same problem. I have Field Maps downloaded on two devices one has the latest version. I am now unable to take photos on some layers on this device. I have a map with several layers, some of which were made over a year ago. These are allowing photos to be taken on both devices. However, the layer I created this week is only allowing photos to be taken on the device with the older version of Field Maps.

I create new layers for surveys fairly frequently. A layer I created on the 20th of July is allowing photos to be taken on all versions of Field Maps. Layers created after this date, devices with version 26.22 do not have the option to take photos.

My colleague has downloaded Field Maps onto his phone today and he is having the same issue.

Thank you for the information. I have a few questions.

Are you working with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise?

If Enterprise, which version?

If Enterprise, are you working with hosted feature services or byreference feature services?

For the maps and layers you're working with, do you have forms configured through Field Maps Designer/Map Viewer or no forms have been authored for those layers/maps?

@DonnaCavill in your explanation you mentioned layers created after 7/20 do not support the ability to capture photos but the layers created prior to that date do. Can you please elaborate on this further and explain how these layers are being created and added into the map, etc?

I am working on ArcGIS Online.

I created the forms through Field Maps Designer

Maps after the 7/20 I created by adding New Feature Layer and "define own layer" I did not use a an "existing feature layer". The map on the 20th I created via an existing feature layer.

I have just created a layer by "define own layer". This is allowing me to take photos. If I create an existing feature layer from one of the layers with the photo button missing, this new layer also has the same issue.

Just so that I am clear, in your latest test, you went through Content > New item > Feature layer > Define your own layer > added this to a new web map > then created a new form through FMD? > then opened in Field Maps 26.2.2 and are able to capture photos. Is that correct?

If so, in your new map, have you included any of the new Attachment elements in the form? It's possible one was added by default when the form was first generated called General.

From what I can tell, it's not the feature; instead, it may be the map/forms.

I took what seemed to be an existing problem feature and created a new map from it. I was then able to see where I could add an attachment in map view and field maps with the default forms.

This is not a fix; it's just an observation.
