options for reprojecting Esri basemaps to local spatial reference in custom apps

Question

We are in the process of sunsetting our old basemaps and asking our app dev clients to use Esri's basemaps.

In the past our in-house basemaps, and all of our map services, usie the local spatial reference 2263 (NY State Plane), while Esri's basemaps use WGS84.

Some of the developers are already finding challenges moving to these basemaps. Some have written x/y coordinates into their tables, while others are concerned about the visual difference between the two projections. We are hoping to help the developers minimize the code changes they will need to make. We also hope to keep our current 2263 map services.

What are the recommended ways, if any, to reproject an Esri basemap on its initial load?  I have been having trouble finding a clear answer to this.

Most of these clients are building /NET applications with ArcGIS JS 4x versions. NOne have yet moved to 5x.

Ideally, any of the basic stock basemaps Esri provides, like these listed here from this code snippet:

Hi @JasonFitzsimmons,

Can you provide an example url of which Esri Basemap you are trying to reproject?

If you are attempting to use any of these in this group: Vector Basemaps (for Export) - Overview, I would assume it is not possible because the tiles are created for the Web Mercator. If it was a dynamic map service you could attempt a few things.

Let me know which basemaps you are looking to reproject and if you have a url it would be helpful.
