The team at DEN has utilized BIM, Revit and ArcGIS Indoors to manage the largest airport in the western hemisphere by land area. The opening quote in this article from Informed Infrastructure sums it up- “It’s a big property, with a lot of assets to be managed,” says Geospatial Manager Chelsea Seiter-Weatherford. “We couldn’t do it without excellent GIS solutions.”

I do appreciate the second part of this piece focusing on the utility of the tools in ArcGIS Aviation Airports. Seiter-Weatherford explains, “We have six existing runways and future ones planned. Using the FAA18B schema (a geodatabase safety framework), we’ve created virtual surfaces that define height restrictions for buildings or obstructions near these runways.”
