How to "save" StoryMaps during account migration?

Question

My daughter's shool is migrating their user accounts from a firstname.lastname@student.tdsb.on.ca  format to a more "private" address format based on student number (123456789@tdsb.ca). Along with the notice from the school board's IT department, they said, with regards to ArcGIS:

Students are required to download and save their ArcGIS items before the update, otherwise their content will be permanently lost.

We've asked around (teachers, school IT, etc.) and nobody actually has any guidence on how ArcGIS "items" can be "downloaded and saved". Mainly, we're looking to save a number StoryMaps (and all related data; maps, etc.). so her work from over the last three years isn't lost. For example, this StoryMap:

Does anyone have any information on how we would "download and save" this (in a way that could then be re-uploaded into the new account after the "migration" is complete, via her new account?

If you have an account, and depending on what is in the StoryMap, you could also try the "duplicate" option.

Log in as yourself and go to her story, and from the overflow you can duplicate the story, making your own copy. Here I used the link in your post:

How well this works in the scenario you have described will depend on the contents of the StoryMap. You get a copy of the StoryMap - so, for examples, any maps she made and used in the story will stop working if the maps themselves go away. Making a duplicate of the story doesn't make a duplicate of the maps. (Express Maps made as part of the story are different.)

Thanks Bob. Given the timeframe (less than two weeks), looks like she's going to lose it all. No way the school board IT is even going to reply in that amount of time, let alone act on it. And as I have no experience with ArcGIS/Notebooks, I doubt I'd be able to do this in time myself.

I'd suggest that you put in a request to the IT folks to migrate your daughter's content to her new account.

If you are comfortable with Notebooks and Python, there are ways to copy a story between organizations:

You would need another organization to copy it to - could get one using an ArcGIS Personal Use account.
