Layers List Widget - open expanded with groups but not layers

Hello

I have a web application which has two groups of layers.  I am trying to find a way (no coding please!) to set the layers list widget so it displays the groups on opening, but not the all layers.  See image attached to show what I have and what I'd like to achieve.  It seems simple but I can only see an option to have everything expanded.
