New user name default settings are limited, and depending on how the organisation name and organisation short name are set, the default can include upper and lower case, underscores, fullstops etc. This is all difficult for field staff to enter on a mobile device.
This recent bug and fix seems to highlight a potential improvement to how admins can create a new user name. Including the simple functions of changing character to upper or lower in the customise default username format would provide great flexibility for organisations
