Loading a shapefile

Hi,

Fairly new user here!

I loaded a shapefile into ArcPro and the data will not display. When I view the table I see data but cannot get it to show on a map. I thought Arc would detect the coordinate system and automatically display the data.

right-click on the layer in the table of contents of the map... select Zoom to layer

If that doesn't work, open a new map without any basemaps, and add the layer to it.

Your assumption of arc being able to detect a coordinate system is correct   BUT  if it doesn't have one defined, then there is nothing to detect
