Converting LAZ to LAS without LASzip

Question

I am trying to convert LAZ files to LAS. Every tutorial I have found says to download LASzip. The problem being that the download link on LASzip.org gives a 404 error. I need to find a way to use the LAZ files downloaded from USGS and without LASzip it doesn't seem like that is possible.

The Data Interoperability extension (FME) - ASPRS Lidar Data Exchange Format (LAS) Reader/Writer will take you from LAZ to LAS  (more here https://community.safe.com/s/article/reading-point-clouds)

You could use PDAL. Installation instructions in the Quickstart

pdal translate input.laz output.las

You can also use the Convert LAS tool within Pro if you have the required license.
