Counting the Number of Records in a Feature Dataset

I am looking for some tool or script that will calculate the total number of records for a feature dataset.

I have over 400 personal geodatabases, and have been asked how many records there are in each feature dataset that those 400 PGDB contain.

This is a really basic capability of ArcPy, though I have to wonder if the number of features
wouldn't be more useful if you had a mean table width and average vertex count collected
at the same time (fortunately, these are also basic capabilities of the ArcGIS Python interface).

The problem is very similar to this thread, though you'll need to iterate in both directions
(as in the pseudo-code below):For each pgdb
  For each FDS
    For each feature class
      For each field
        add one to field count
        add width to width sum
      For each record
        add one to record cound
        add to vertex sum

The same could be accomplished with older versions of ArcGIS (you didn't say which
version of Desktop you'd be using), but the scripting language would change to VB.

The best place for help with scripting this is probably over in the Python forum.

When you say records, are you referring to the total number of feature classes within each feature dataset?  If so, take a look at this thread.

Or, are you referring to the total number of features in each feature class, within each feature dataset?
