Search Widget Result Label

How can I create a label instead of a pop-up for results from the Search Widget?

I've started to play around with customizing the Search Widget symbol based on this post: Customize Search Widget Result Symbol. I was able to change the symbol, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to add a custom label.
