Export 3D Animation option is greyed out

I am following along with Esri's tutorial on 3D animated symbols add-in (Animated Symbols Add-In - Overview (arcgis.com) )

It all went fine until it came to exporting the animation as a movie. The export tab is greyed out (Animation > Export).

What can I do to make this option available to export as a mp4 movie?
