Hi,
we have an ArcGIS Enterprise installation (10.7.1, Oracle SDE). We would like to do first steps into the cloud enviroment by creating a SQL dabase / service in Azure. Now the system requirements state:
10.7.1. - Link
"ArcGIS connections to Microsoft Azure must originate from machines within Microsoft Azure. "
Do I understand correctly - we won't be able to connect to any SQL DB/service in Azure as long as the clients are still "on prem"?
For 10.8.1 the phrasing is slightly different -
"Connections from ArcGIS software to databases in the cloud must originate from machines in the same cloud." - I could read as "if the client is in the cloud then it needs to be the same cloud as the database". I can also read as "if the database is in the cloud the client needs to be in the cloud as well" - so same as 10.7.1.
Can anyone shed some light on this? We will have ArcMap and ArcGISServer clients (10.7.1.) on prem for the foreseeible future. Can we move the (SDE) database into the cloud or not?
Thank you, Rob
