I would be able to use arcade to create a filter: "You create filter expressions using attribute fields in your data or custom attribute expressions written in ArcGIS Arcade."
Am I missing out something? Can't find the arcade option in the filter section.
Yup doc error thanks for posting! Currently no arcade authoring experience for filters.

Currently the definitionexpression only supports SQL based statements. Would recommend create an ArcGIS Idea to track as a possible enhancement.
Rather than this be classed as solved because the documentation is wrong, can we actually get layers to filter in the map viewer by an arcade expression please?
I don't see it in either the Classic or New Map Viewer. I think you've spotted an error in the documentation, or else this is for some as-yet-unreleased feature.
