I am trying to extract a certain area within a raster dataset using a polygon and when the tool has finished it displays a black and white striped image along with a blue outline where the polygon would have been.
Not so experienced in ArcGIS, not sure what I have did wrong. I checked all the workspace environments and made sure there were no spaces.
What version of ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro are you using?
Check if Clip Raster (ArcGIS Pro) / Clip (ArcMap) results in the desired output.
In case "Clip" doesn't work out, could you please share a sample raster and polygon Feature Class to test your data? What is the source of the Raster data?
I am using ArcMap 10.5
The clip tool doesn't allow me the option to input the raster I want.

If you are outputting to file geodatabase, I would try output to TIFF (.tif) format first and then import to geodatabase.
