Hold down 'Shift' to draw vertical, diagonal or horizontal lines

When drawing a line, i would like to be able to hold down the 'Shift' key to draw vertical, diagonal or horizontal lines, as is the standard in many applications.

Just to be clear, are you wanting it for graphic elements in a map layout, or sketching line features in your GIS data?

Having that at least as an editing option in both graphics and data would be absolutely wonderfully useful. Yes, when editing data you can put in an angle measure, but just being able to quickly hold down shift and have the current segment of the edit sketch snap to the clossest 0/45/90 angle would by really useful as it is in so many other applications.

Constraining to angles by holding down the shift key should also be enabled when moving objects in layout.
