My clients are actually asking for a version of the collector app for AGOL without the map interface to allow speedy collection of point data by field operators. Would automatically default to current position when completing the form.

A simple interface to enable anyone with a smartphone to get an AGOL account and log data on behalf of the organisation without the need for complex map interface (this would push up adoption of AGOL accounts!).

Attribution of the feature service would provide form options (drop downs, text input, photos etc) as it does presently.

Must be pretty simple to do?

You can accomplish this with Survey123. You get the added benefit of configuring form logic during data entry. One downside is you can't update existing features or add related records to them. This might not be an issue in your case. You can't create a new login within Collector or Survey123.  However,  I did read somewhere  that public surveys and social logins will be possible in the in Survey123 in the future.
