Zoom to user defined area in web maps

Please bring back the ability to zoom to a user drawn box in web maps. The +/- button approach often does not allow for the level of control over zooming in that is necessary for users.

I am surprised this hasn't received more attention. I desperately need this. the default zoom scales are either too far or too close for my jurisdiction and its really messy.

I need to be able to draw a "zoom box" to set the extent.

It’s irritating to not be able to configure our main content map to an ideal zoom level due to presets. Even using shift+drag conforms to those presets. It would be great if at a minimum, shift+drag provided the same, user-defined zoom functionality of ArcMap.
