AutoCAD Block Attributes not visible in ArcMap

Question

I have an AutoCAD file, with blocks containing custom fields with attribute values in them. According to ESRI documentation these should be visible. However, the file was created in Civil 3D, and there is mention here that Civil 3D custom attributes are not supported.

Is there a way to create a standard AutoCAD file from Civil 3d that will allow those block and block attributes to be visible in ArcMap?

I believe you can use the AutoCAD Civil3d command AECTOACAD to convert your Civil 3d points into blocks with attributes.  The resultant features will be visible (with their attributes) in ArcGIS.
